Fixed mindset Vs Growth mindset

What type of ‘Mindset’ do you have?

A fixed mindset?

Or a growth mindset?

If you’re unfamiliar with these terms……..

Allow me to explain:

If you have a fixed mindset,

It means that you see yourself as the ‘finished product’  ( someone that cant change or cant be ‘improved’ )

If you have a growth mindset

It means that you see yourself as a ‘work in progress’ ( someone that can change and can be ‘improved’ )

Most Women I talk to,  would describe themselves as having a growth mindset

And for many,

This is TRUE

At least in some areas of their life

But very few people actually use this mindset in ALL areas of their life

Some are in great shape

But struggle being a mum, partner,  and in their career

Some are great being a mum, partner and have a great career

But struggle to stay in shape ( and have no time for friends or a social life )

In the past

I know I’ve had some pretty shit ares in my life ( putting it bluntly )

But one thing I did years ago

Was to invest in an NLP practitioner course. The most powerful course I have ever done

Its certainly helped me throughout the years, and has helped me get to where I am today

My advice to you today

If there’s something that you want in life…..

And there’s someone out there that can help you get it,

Don’t be afraid to invest in them

( even if its NOT me )

Because you’re NOT the finished article Baby Girl

Far from it

And you DO want me to help you with your goals, confidence and weight loss etc, respond to this message and lets have a chat

PPS – I’ll be touching on mindset in tomorrow nights, ’90 day action plan seminar’ – 7.40pm, St Mary’s Church Hall, St Mary’s road, Garston

What ‘don’t’ you want

Here’s a quickie for you this morning

2 weeks ago, I ran a seminar, ’90 day action plan’, were i was helping everyone who attended, to put together a 90 day plan on what they wanted to achieve.

I went over everything.

What will it look like, what will it feel like, why do you want it etc ( after 90 days )

But, not everyone can do this. So…

Here’s another approach:

‘What don’t you want?’

Have a think about it

Once you have established what you don’t want, that will then help us put a new plan in place:

How can I move away from this?

Again, have a think. Make a list if it helps

Now, ask yourself, what are your 3 biggest frustrations in your life right now? What are the pay offs if you can erase them from your life?

Have a think, and when you are ready,

Put together an action plan

Paul 🙂

PS – If setting goals, or trying to determine where you don’t want to be is not your thing

we’ll probably be a bad fit for each other

Do you avoid social events?

Do you ever avoid social events?

One of the main reasons why women avoid social events, is that they don’t feel good about themselves. They feel overweight, out of breath and worried about what other people think of them

Thinking about doing exercise and having a healthier diet, can be pretty easy. However…..

This will only last so long, before you go back to your old ways

Would you like to start socialising again? Or maybe not get out of breath when you do attend these events?

On Wednesday, I am doing a Free coaching seminar, which will be held at St Mary’s Church Hall, St Mary’s road, Garston L19 0NE. The session will start approx 7.40pm, after the Boxercise session

Firstly, I will be helping you create a plan of action, which is going to help you execute your goals over the next few months. You will will also partner up with someone, so you are accountable

Over the next few weeks, we will have more meetings, were I will go over nutrition, training methods and helping you to get the right mindset, in order to achieve your goals

All you need to bring with you is a pen and paper

This is probably the only opportunity we will get, were I can sit down with you, and help you with other aspects apart from my classes.

The people who get the most out of my programs, are the ones who put plans in place, and let me know what they have and haven’t been doing

Hope to see you then

Paul ‘public speaker’ Coshott

PS – If your happy avoiding social events, then that’s cool. I get it

I’ve felt like that at times in the past

Worried about what other people would think of me

and I’d be happy to stay in my own comfort zone

thing is, nothing happens here, which is why I did something about it

and I can help you do something about it too, if you turn up

Children copy you

Have you ever wondered how your children or babies learn to walk?

They copy you, or they’re peers around them

As they get older

They copy other things you have

Eating habits

Exercise habits

Thought process

Alcohol intake etc

This is called modelling ( in NLP terms )

Are you a good role model to your children, or other younger people around you?

While younger people around us ‘model’ themselves on us

We can also model ourselves on other people

People who earn more money than us

People who are more motivated than us

People who are in better shape than us etc

This is something I’ll be touching on in tonight’s nights FREE training seminar:

‘How to get your confidence back, in 90 days’

This will be starting at 7.40pm, St Mary’s Church Hall, St Mary’s road, Garston L19

Places are limited

Fat tax on clothing

The sugar tax, or ‘fat tax’ theme of my messages, accidentally continues today

Due to recent reports in the media, there’s suggestions that some high street retail shops ( New look being the main one that’s been reported ), are charging a fat tax on their clothing

It’s been reported that any clothing that’s size 18 and above, will be more expensive than the smaller sizes

The average size now for a woman in the UK is a 16

A ‘fat tax’ on clothing isn’t set in stone yet, but it may come about

Tam Fry, who is chairman of the national obesity forum, said higher price tags for plus size clothing is a ‘good incentive’ for women to stay below a size 18

What do you think? Would you be happy paying more for bigger sized clothing?

Paul 🙂

Are your beliefs holding you back?

What beliefs do you hold about yourself?

I’m not good enough, I’m not fit enough, I’m not in his/ her league, I’m useless, I’ll never be able to do that etc etc

We all have them, and mostly we focus on the negative ones rather than the positive ones

So what beliefs do you have about yourself? Have a think

Are they actually helping you move forward?

If you find that you have a list of negative ones, check out the video connected to this message….

It contains an exercise that will help you break them down and replace them with more positive ones

that will help you move forward, towards your desired outcome

Does stress get to you?

On Friday, I had the most stressful day I’d had for a while

I broke down again in my car, which was the 3rd time this year

I couldn’t believe it. I was sick about it

The worst thing about it though, was that it happened on the Wirral, and I had to leave the car there

Not only that, I’d also received an email in the morning, from a supplement company threatening to sue me, re an old article I’d written

( that’s sorted now )

All in all, a very stressful day. I couldn’t think straight at all

I felt sick all night

Do you ever get like this in a situation?

If so, then here’s some tips that i hope will help you the next time you feel like this ( and it’s what I used )

1 Give yourself some time on your own and try and relax. This is the main thing. You have to try and get in control of your state, as soon as possible, otherwise, your mind will escalate, which may lead to over thinking. You have to try and focus on the here and now

2 If you do drink any caffeine, don’t have more of it during the situation. Again, it can contribute towards an increase in adrenaline, which will lead to feeling agitated and increase anxiety

3 Speak to someone

4 Go through all the options you have, to help improve the situation. You can do this when and if you speak to someone

5 Do some exercise, which will help take your mind off the situation and help you sleep ( as you would have used your build up of adrenaline )

Hope the tips help

Fingers crossed i get some good news about my car today

Women Only Application Thanks

Great group of Women and great fun

Great group of Women. Loads of fun, and I really enjoy it”

Check out this most recent interview I’ve done with one of my clients, Dawn

Dawn has been attending my Women Only Boxing sessions for about 15 months now

Before she signed up, she had been exercising on her own for a period, “I’d seen the videos of the classes on Facebook, and they looked great fun”

Dawn started off by doing a free week trial. She then signed up to a 3 month program, “the 3 month period would give me the chance to see whether I was going to commit to it, but I loved it. It’s a great group of women, great fun and I really enjoy it”

After the 3 month period, Dawn then signed up for 6 months. And after that, she signed up for another 6 months

“The exercise is absolutely brilliant”

“I wanted something that could help me de stress, and punching has got to be one of the best de stresses in the world”

“I love the sessions, and the class times are perfect for me. I can get home, relax, and have a glass of wine”

“If you want to do a great exercise class and have fun at the same time, then this is it”

The Gut, Anxiety and Mental Health

Over the past couple of months, I’ve noticed a few articles popping out, regarding the gut and mental health

I didn’t really pay much attention to these articles, until a guy who I know got in touch with me a few weeks ago, and told me the results some of his clients have been getting, from the result of a ‘gut detox’

The microbiome ( bacteria around the gut ), is now getting more interest from researchers, due to the effects it has on the brain and mental behaviour

Tests where done on mice, several years ago, one group being fed gut bacteria and the other group being fed bacteria free broth

There was significant behaviours in the bacteria fed mice

Since then, tests have also been held amongst adults, and as a result, there was quite a significant effect in lowering stress response and changing brain activity

The use of anti depressants seems to be going up each year, and it’s very easy now to come across someone who uses them

But in the next couple of years, getting your ‘microbiome’ checked, might be as regular as getting your cholesterol checked

Although tests are still ongoing, and it’s still early days, many people are excited “we are in the early days of unravelling the secrets of this system” says Dr Emeran Mayer, author of The Mind Gut connection, “I think we currently know about 10%, but in the next 10-20 years, this could revolutionise many areas of medicine”

Paul ‘full of facts’ Coshott

PS – I’ll be talking about this at my next seminar, possibly next week

What 10 things are you good at?

Yesterday, when I was in the gym, I was in a bit of a depressive state

I was complaining to a mate of mine, that I’d lost some time in the morning

“I cant believe I’ve lost an hour this morning Dean. I’ve dithered around for a little bit, and its cost me. I’ve got so much to do”

“Paul, your too hard on yourself”, he replied. “I bet you’ve done loads of things this morning”

“Mmmmm, not so sure”

“Come on, I bet you’ve done something. You’re very talented. You’ve done pretty well for yourself and you have a lot of clients” , he went on to say

( this dude used to be a teacher )

he continued….

“I remember when I worked as teacher. One day I asked my students, to write down the 10 things that they’re good at. They all looked in disbelief, and couldn’t think of anything. I then asked them to write 5 things down, that they are good at. Again, they looked at me in disbelief. They couldn’t think of anything. I then asked them to write down 10 things that they are bad at, and they started making a list”

he carried on…..

“that’s what we do. we focus on the negative things that are going on. I bet there’s loads of people who would love to be like you. Maybe just focus on what you have right now”

haha, talk about taking some of my own medicine, but he was right

I never really allow myself to live in the moment, and appreciate what I have, or where I am. I always want more, or better, and most of the time, that’s not good

and if you believe in spirituality, it certainly doesn’t tie in with its teachings

So, here’s a little exercise for you to do…

What 10 things are you good at?   If your struggling to think of anything, think of 5

and if your still struggling,

think of 10 things you are bad at

( this can contribute towards your mental well being )

Let me know how you get on

Paul 🙂

PS – If we always focus on negative things, then we’ll only ever have negative experiences
