Training weekend in Wales

After a bit of dithering

( well not really, just been so busy )

I have now booked a date for this years, residential training weekend away

Before I give all the details, the main purpose of the weekend, is to challenge you in a particular way, that will help you create new confidence, and break down negative beliefs that you may hold about yourself

The weekend will take place on Friday 19th to Sunday 21st October

We will be staying at ‘Bunkhouse Heaven’ Lake Vrnwy, Wales. It’s about a 2 hour drive away from Liverpool

I have held 2 other training weekends at this venue, and it’s absolutely fantastic. It really is a unique place

We will arrive on Friday 19th, and check in. We will then spend the evening in the local pub, having an evening meal and a couple of drinks

On Saturday, we will have our usual Boxing session outside at 10am, with picturesque views. After the session, we will then head down to Lake Vyrnwy. We Will have our lunch here, and have a leisurely bike ride around the lake ( takes about 1-2 hours ) . After this, we will head back to the bunkhouse, and chill out there for the rest of the afternoon/ evening

On Sunday, we will head back to the lake about 11am and participate in our activities, kayaking, raft building, swing bridge building, archery etc. Once we have finished ( about 2/3pm ), we will have our lunch and head back home

As I’ve said, I have done this weekend twice with my clients, and it really is an amazing Weekend

The cost is £160, which includes accommodation and all activities. There are only 10 spaces available, and a deposit of £40 is required asap, to reserve your place. The remaining balance has to be paid 4 weeks prier to the weekend

Struggling to sleep?

Jude has been attending my Women Only Boxercise and weight training programs for almost 2 years.

She’d done fantastically well within that time and had lost a lot of weight, however, maybe about a few months ago now, she’d hit a plateau

She wasn’t losing anymore weight, and wasn’t really feeling the full benefits of the programs she was on

After a discussion with her, she decided to follow a ‘Gut reset program’ that would help her remove bad bacteria from around her gut, and in turn, help her to start feeling the full benefits of my programs

However, the main issue with Jude was sleep

“I just wasn’t getting any sleep at all. I was substituting water for coffee, thinking it would boost my energy levels, but it wasn’t’

On a scale of 1-10, Jude described her energy levels, sleep, stress levels and mood as 3/4 ( bad )

Jude then started the ‘Gut reset program’, which was a 3 week course. At first, she eliminated things like caffeine, wheat, sugar, artificial sugar, alcohol, dairy etc from her diet

After Jude completed the 3 week program, we went over her results. Her energy levels massively improved, as well as her mood and stress levels

But not only that, she started to have more sleep again. In fact, she then described her sleep as ‘8’, a massive improvement since she started the program

Added Bonuses:

Jude also lost half a stone, and can now fit into a size 8 jeans, for the first time in years

She’d also lost half an inch off each arm and an inch of each thigh

My job as a stripper

Not long after I’d started doing Personal training, I was approached by a friend of mine, to do a bit of work as a stripper, in a night club in Wales

Being only 22 at the time, and full of testosterone, I jumped at the chance

Just before my first job, I trained my ass off and did a couple of sunbeds, making sure I was toned and tanned

Anyhoo, driving down to do my first job in Llandudno, truth be told, I was a nervous wreck

I got to this nightclub, and met up with the other lads. It’s was a Women Only night, and it’s was a sell out

Now I was Sh*ting myself 😂😂😂 Alcohol for some Women can be an aphrodisiac

I vaguely remember frantically getting ready for our first song, and nerves really beginning to kick in, as the DJ was working the crowd

Long story short ( before I go into the full details of the night ), I had a great time

I did it about half a dozen times, and each time I was going down to Wales, i felt exactly the same, although the nerves weren’t as bad as the first couple of times

And here’s the point I’m trying to make….

Whether you’re joining a new exercise program, martial arts club, new job, moving to a new area, joining a new social circle etc

You’ll probably always feel a bit apprehensive and nervous at the beginning

It’s mainly to do with coming out of your comfort zone.

Your comfort zone slightly expands, and as it expands, it will take you a period to acclimatise to it….

And when you acclimatise to it, that’s when you get rewarded with brand new confidence ( which then leads on to other things )

I’m not suggesting today that you become a lap dancer or stripper, 😂😂, but if you want to improve an area of your identity, then you’re going to have to step out of your comfort zone every now and again

The Sunday Sulk

Saturday just gone, some of the Women from my classes, organised a night out

On Sunday morning, I woke up to a barrage of messages, people had been smoking on the night out, being sick ( head down the toilet ), eating kebabs, dirty chicken, getting rotten drunk, etc etc

I was cool about it, and I know a lot of them are usually well behaved over a weekend ( at a guess, haha )

but, here’s the thing…….

I speak to a lot of women over the course of the year, who seem to get in that state pretty regularly

in some ways, that’s not a bad thing, after all, a lot of them probably work hard throughout the week, so therefore, its only ‘fair’ that they should play hard, Right?

The only problem with that my friend, is that there’s a price to pay for playing hard

and that my friend, is the ‘Sunday Sulk’

Yep, chances are, they spend most Sundays, walking around like a bear with a sore head,

short with the hubby, snappy with the kids, tired as f*uck ( being blunt ),

and generally feeling sorry for themselves

would you really want to be in this position on a Sunday?

I’m not here to judge you, or anyone else for that matter, the odd night out now and again ISN’T the end of the world,

but when it comes to a weekly thing, and you feel like crap every single Sunday,

something needs to change, if not for you, for your kids

New Class Timetable

You might be aware, that at the end of September, we might have to move out of the church hall on a Wednesday evening ( St Mary’s )

This isn’t confirmed yet, but the members of the church committee, want to run a Youth Club that night

This has prompted me to give serious thought towards moving into my own studio

Having my own place has never really been on any of my business plans over the years

But with the growth of the classes, which has been somewhat accidental, I’ve landed in this position

And with the forecast of new growth, and other plans for my business, being in my own studio, could really help us all step up to the next level

Anyhoo…..

Here’s a proposal of what’s possibly going to happen over the next few months:

New Class Timetable:

Monday – 6.15 Boxing. 8pm Weights ( upper body )

Tuesday – 6.15 Boxing. 7.45pm Weights ( lower body )

Wednesday – 6.45 Boxing. 8pm Weights ( upper body )

Thursday – Weights night

Saturday – 10am Boxing

The weight training program is a 12 week course, and will be split up as follows:

First 4 weeks – Body Fat reduction

Second 4 weeks – Toning

Third 4 weeks – Shred phase

I’ve given this quite a lot of thought, and if a client was to do 3-4 weight training sessions a week, the results they would get, would be doubled or tripled to what a client can get now ( re body shape, strength, drop in dress sizes etc )

There’s quite a big difference between clients who are doing weights once a week, against the clients who are doing it twice a week. I can see the difference with people

The extra weight training sessions will possibly start at the end of this month. At the end of September, we will move into Proflex for the Wednesday night, so we’ll do a class on the bags, and then go on to the weights

In some areas, I’ll probably have to tweak the prices, but I believe that this new timetable, will be better than the current one, and has the potential to deliver even better results for the client

This new timetable will be ran up until Christmas. In the meantime, I’ll be making sure that everyone is getting what they want from the program(s), classes.

I’ll also be looking for a venue to move into, which might be early 2019.

The venue will have to be big ( possibly 1-2k a month rent ), which will then help me do what I want to do with it, while helping me provide a better service to you all.

The classes could be so much better, with more facilities on offer

Anyway, I’m adding more detail to this plan as I speak, but thought I would give you a quick heads up 😉

Why you have no Willpower ( it’s not what you think )

Its a funny old thing willpower..

it’s talked about as some kinda of X-men style super power

something that only mutants possess

or like I used to think when I was broke and miserable

“Willpower is for boring f*ckers with no life “*

don’t tell me you’ve never thought that, BTW

Anyway, it’s actually something I’ve struggled with sometimes, over the years

its fickle..

really f*cking fickle

it comes and goes like the summer here in the Liverpool ( most of the time )

and when it ‘goes’ enough times..

you’ll get to that dark little place known as “Whats the f*cking point”

and resign yourself to another year of bullsh*t and going round in circles

doesn’t matter if its with your diet, your business or any habits you want to break or bring in

when you’re left with you vs willpower… willpower always loses

but i have a secret weapon.

and its NOT what you think it is

there’s no special ‘hack’ for this

no woo-woo, ‘manifestation’ nonsense

Confidence: what women want

Which is why about 8 years ago now, I decided to go back to teaching Boxing classes for Women.

After years of trying different things, reading books, attending courses, workshops, etc, I decided to go back to basics, and start teaching Boxercise classes again ( my classes have massively evolved since then )

Boxing training can give you everything you need, plus, it doesn’t really cost much these days, buying a pair of pads and gloves

Are you looking for Accountability?

Accountability is one of the key things you need to have in place, when working towards goals, hence, why I make sure everyone who attends my classes/ programs, is being held accountable with someone

Here’s an interview I’ve just recently done, with one of my clients Sarah

Sarah had been training at home, doing 20 – 30 minute workouts, for about 18 months, until she started getting bored with it, and wasn’t really getting the results she desired

She then decided to do some boxing training, and came across my classes

‘I wanted to join something that had committed people, and I liked the look of your classes, plus, it looked like it had a lot of regular people’

Sarah then booked in for a Free Week trial

‘The classes were great. All the women were lovely and I definitely wanted to do more if it’

Sarah then signed up to my 6 week program. In fact, it’s 7 weeks now since she first started

‘I’m a lot fitter now and feel more confident, but not only that, the accountability has been a big thing. Because I’ve been working with more or less the same partners throughout the period, I felt that I had to turn up for them. I didn’t want to let them down’
