Ever tempted to buy a new car?

Have you ever been tempted to buy a new car? Or maybe something else? Maybe you’ve bought something and then a couple of hours or days later, you’ve realised you’ve made a big mistake?
About this time last year, I bought a new car and paid for it outright ( never been one for borrowing money for cars ). Its an old mercedes coupe, but much better than the previous car I had.
Since I’ve had it, my mate ( whose a car dealer ), has always tried to buy it off me, and tempt me with something better. X5, BMW coupe, BMW estate etc. He’s even offered me a bit of time to get the rest of the cash together, once we’ve swapped cars ( he wants my car for his wife )
His deals have been very tempting, and I do have dreams of having something sexier ( Audi R8 ), but when I’ve thought about it, its not what I want/ need right now.
Years ago, I would have bit his hand off, but now, I’m a bit more sensible when buying things.
You see, we can easily be drawn into materialistic things. People will get in to debt to purchase these things, thinking that its going to improve an area of their lives.
When you break it down though, it doesn’t . Is a new car going to help me do more travelling next year – no. Is a new car going to help me move house – no. Will a new car improve the relationship I have with my parents or family – no.
When I help clients to set goals, this is an exercise that I go over. We need to set goals that hold value to us and nourish us
Have you purchased something recently, thinking that it will make you feel more confident or attractive, and then after a few days/ weeks, you still feel the same?
Is purchasing A B or C, going to help you achieve X Y Z ( things that you really want/ need, that will improve you in some capacity ) ?
Hope this message tonight gives you some food for thought – if you need it
