“Hey sometimes I struggle too”

A couple of weeks ago ( if you remember ), the weather was lovely. We had a couple of days of nice, warm weather. At this time, I had 4 training sessions booked in. When it come around to doing my Jiu Jitsu lesson on Tuesday morning, I really couldn’t be arsed ( putting it bluntly ). Rolling around, wrestling with someone on the ground, while it was roasting outside, really diluted my motivation. But I got it done. The next day I drove to a gym in Warrington to do a heavy weights session on my legs. Again, I couldn’t be arsed, but I went there and got it done.

4 sessions nailed in 4 days. I also did Kung fu on the Saturday beforehand and sparred, while it was hot and sunny outside.
We are our own life coach, and sometimes we literally have to shout at ourselves to get things done. The words I used where ” it’s just 1 fuckin hour. Come on, get it done”.
Apologies for using the ‘F’ word, but sometimes using a swear word can be very powerful
The motivation I generated from shouting at myself, lead me to doing an interview and write up about it and titling it “4 quick tips to help get you motivated towards your training sessions.
When I posted it on Facebook, it caused a bit of a storm, as not everyone was happy with it, but, it possibly turned out to be the best video is ever done. It reached just over 24,000 on Facebook and got 1,000 views. Usually you have to pay to get that kind of publicity
Anyhow, the video is connected to this message, as well as the 4 tips:
WARNING: I WILL SWEAR ON VIDEO
4 quick tips that I hope will help you get back on track over the next few days:
1. BE ACCOUNTABLE: either get in touch with myself, the gym, your trainer etc and tell me or them, what you are going to do over the next few days. Are you going to turn up for your training session tonight, tomorrow or next week etc
2. REMIND YOURSELF, WHY YOU JOINED THE PROGRAM IN THE FIRST PLACE:

Was it to get fitter or slimmer for the Summer etc
3. ITS 1 FECKING HOUR:

I know it’s been hot over the past few days, but tell yourself, “ITS 1 FECKING HOUR”. I always try and keep my training sessions to around 1 hour. That’s all it takes. Get started, get it nailed, and that’s it
4. HOW MUCH MONEY HAVE YOU SPENT?

Signing up to programs, Personal Trainers, Supplements, Gym gear etc can all amount up to a lot of money. Don’t waste it. Make it count
BONUS: Have you bought New Gym Gear recently? Or maybe you’ve bought a new GI for your Jiu Jitsu class etc? Do these items still fit you? Maybe try them on. They might remind you that you’ve put on some weight recently and that you need to get back into your routine
Hope it helps
Paul 🙂
