So, last weekend, I was in a Supermarket i tend to use on the Wirral ( I train over there of a Saturday evening )
And the front page of one of the tabloids happened to catch my eye
Here’s the jist
“6m Brits will be sprout of it by Xmas dinner”
It went on to explain that 6 million britons will be drunk by the time the Turkey goes in the oven
and 1 in 5 of them will have a ‘fight’ with a loved one on Christmas day
it brought a bit of a smile to my face at the time
bit it ain’t no joke
I used to get drunk a fair bit ( years ago. might tell you more next week )
so I get it…….
but for some reason, getting steaming drunk is accepted as normal
my opinion
everyone is trying their best with what they have
and they drink to get some temporary relief from the pain they’re in
whether that’s
*stress
*overwhelm
*money worries
*their relationship is sh*t
*they don’t like themselves
whatever it is, feeling drunk makes them feel better about it for a little while
but you know the deal my friend
its a simple AVOIDANCE tactic
its a way of avoiding sh*t
a strategy to avoid responsibility
a way to put off the pain of change
but as you well know, amiga
It DOES NOT WORK
in fact, it makes things worse
more tired —– more stressed ——fatter ———-sicker
a BRUTAL, seemingly never ending cycle
but the good news is this:
THERE IS A BETTER WAY
a way that can transform you from lost, tired and overworked
to UNSTOPPABLE
without the need to hide and sedate with booze
it starts with your THOUGHTS
( more on that in the near future )
Paul ‘stuffing my turkey’ Coshott
PS – I WONT be fighting with any of my loved ones this Christmas
Why?
They can’t trigger me or piss me off
ONLY I CAN DO THAT
and yep, I might indeed have 1 or 2 beers on xmas day, I ain’t no saint 🙂
